Karen Veverka
MS KAREN VEVERKA taught orchestra at Skaneateles High School in the Fingerlakes Region of Central New York from 1990-2023. During her 33 year career, she led her ensembles to “Gold With Distinction” NYSSMA awards, first place at Heritage Festival’s National Inaugural Festival at George Mason University in 2009, and to Segerstrom Concert Hall in Los Angeles in 2010. She holds degrees from St. Olaf College and Syracuse University, where she studied as a Ph.D Candidate in Music Education, with additional training at Aspen, and the Berklee College of Music in Boston. During her career in Skaneateles she served as Vice President and Education Chair on the Board of Directors for the Skaneateles Festival. In 2013, Ms Veverka was appointed Conductor of the Syracuse Youth String Orchestra, and continued as Conductor of the Symphoria Repertory Orchestra from 2017-2020, She is currently an adjudicator, guest conductor and clinician. As a professional violinist, Ms Veverka has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Joffrey Ballet, Omaha Symphony, Tri-Cities Opera, Syracuse Orchestra, Skaneateles Festival, and the Society for New Music. She is currently on the faculty of LeMoyne College
