OUR STORY

ABOUT
OFF THE DOCK
CHAMBER FESTIVAL
What Sets Us Apart
Founded by Joe Hagen, Natalie Pang, Collin Holloway, and Luke Benedict, Off The Dock was born from a frustrating reality: a lack of professional performance opportunities in Central and Western New York for conservatory graduates.
Many existing festivals rely on "pay-to-play" models or prioritize social media metrics over talent. Furthermore, traditional programming often ignores unconventional ensembles, stifling the evolution of chamber music. The founders created Off The Dock to subvert these trends, offering emerging artists a platform based on musical merit, fair compensation, and innovation.
Our Name
Our organization’s name carries dual meaning rooted in the local community. There is a meaningful tradition here in Skaneateles where our high school graduates plunge into the lake, marking a bold leap into their futures. "Off The Dock" captures the spirit of taking that leap and applies it to young musicians launching professional careers.
Growth & Impact
What began as a single concert has expanded into a week-long series featuring:
-
High-caliber performances and world premieres by young composers.
-
Strong partnerships with local businesses and venues.
-
Nonprofit status, achieved in 2025 as a 501(c)(3) organization.
Today, Off The Dock is bridging the gap for talented graduates and cultivating a vibrant, sustainable chamber music community in Central New York.
