www.offthedockchamber.com/tickets

Step back in time this holiday season with a festive gathering inspired by classic radio variety hours! Imagine sipping delicious festive drinks (to be provided before the performance by hot chocolate and pastry food truck @the.giving.bean) as you enjoy festive ambience, top-tier music making, and immersive story telling.

This year’s program is generously supported by a grant from @skanartscouncil. The concert will bring together the creative forces of Off The Dock Chamber Chamber Festival and @dickenschristmas, in a carefully crafted theatrical experience that is bound to make festive memories that last.

Costumed actors will bring Victorian charm to the stage through theatrical readings and comedy sketches. A special instrumental ensemble - formed exclusively for this performance - joins vocal soloists to deliver arrangements of beloved classical masterworks such as the Nutcracker Suite, and other traditional holiday favorites.

A highlight of the program will be a world premiere of a commissioned musical setting of Clement C. Moore’s timeless poem, “A Visit from St. Nicholas (The Night Before Christmas)” composed by local talent, @seanlorenzopenzo .

Celebrating the spirit of the season alongside the vibrant energy of Off The Dock’s emerging artists, A Very Merry Radio Hour is a holiday celebration for audiences of all ages. Don’t let another season pass without taking the time to celebrate it to the fullest!

Join us on December 19th, and spend this holiday “Off The Dock”!

🎅 Looking Forward to Upcoming Announcements

Happy October! Here’s a little look back at last year’s Winter Gala in anticipation of an exciting upcoming announcement from Off The Dock!

For those of you who were around last winter, you may remember our Winter Gala–all of us huddled around a stage enjoying festive music, and a Christmas tree standing in the center of First Presbyterian Church. The perfect outing to celebrate the holidays, if we don’t say so ourselves!

For those of you itching to go to something this winter to celebrate the season, you’re in luck! We’re doing it all again, and thanks to your support we’ve got all kinds of new additions in store! We’ll be running down all the details in a post soon, so please stay tuned. In the meantime, take a moment to reminisce with us!

“John Dodgson Barrow, best known for his landscapes and portraits, was one of Central New York’s more prolific painters during the second half of the nineteenth century. Born in NYC, November 24, 1824 in an age of Romanticism, he was influenced by both the Hudson River School of painters and the romantic New England poets. At the age of fourteen he was sent to reside with relatives, in northeast England, to further his education. There he received his first lessons in painting.” - @barrowgallery

Today we’re taking a look back at our final concert of last season again. Joe Hagen, co-founder and co-artistic director of Off The Dock, wrote a work which centered around the connection of Barrow’s work to the Skaneateles community. Creating a narrative text to accompany the music, he spoke about his own connections to the area and the significance of what Barrow captured. In the piece we are transported through snapshots around Skaneateles, flitting between memories and reminiscing throughout the work.

This connection between community and landscape are evoked through the work of these wonderful artists:

@joehagenmusic - viola & narration
@bgadbow - cello
@nataliepangpiano - piano

What a summer it’s been!

Thank you for joining us on a varied musical journey, from lively bluegrass jams with @jdrancsak @aidyl.weiss @zanecarnes and the holy visions of Hildegard von Bingen @thepandoraconsort, to boisterous sax playing @kodachromequartet and paintings turned Musical Landscapes in our fabulous collaboration with @barrowgallery.

Today, we’d like to take a quick look back to our last concert. You’re hearing a small section of @nataliepangpiano ‘s piece which highlights a close friendship in John Barrow’s life. So close was this friendship in fact that the man wrote an entire poem about it entitled, “Tribute to William M. Beauchamp.” Talk about a quality friend!

These fabulous musicians brought the love and camaraderie of this poem to life:
@holdenjturner - baritone
@joehagenmusic - viola
@bgadbow - cello
@nataliepangpiano - piano

Stay tuned for another look at least season’s concert, and a rapidly approaching announcement of where and when you can catch us making music again!

The Last Days of Summer

During these last days of Summer, we are thinking about the performers who’ve joined us at OTD and where they are headed next.
